The Luzin Affair - one year after the end

In 1936, Nikolai Luzin “was tried at a special hearing of the Commission of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, which endorsed all accusations of Luzin as an enemy under the mask of a Soviet citizen”. One year ago, the (long overdue, though) Resolution No.8 of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences (January 17, 2012, see here) overturned the 1936 decision.

no research without publication

“Research without publication is recreation” 
(I. J. Good, as quoted in "Research and Publication in Statistics" by Bill Woodall). This goes for undergraduate research too: a serious undergraduate research experience must be directed/striving towards publication (which is, in a sense, a continuing and confidence-building certificate of authenticity, to say nothing about the practical value for the students' careers).
